Favorite games:

Dominant Species is my favorite game, and I really enjoy area control games like Blood Rage, Kemet, Cyclades, and Inis. Time’s Up is also a favorite.

Gateway into the hobby:

As a kid, I played a lot of the classic games – War, Monopoly, and Life – with my grandma. As I got older, HeroQuest and Dungeons and Dragons became staples in my gaming.

If I could game with anyone:

Gaming with Stefan Feld would be a dream come true. He’s always been one of my favorite designers. It would also be great to game with Phil Eklund.

Favorite games:

I love a good 2+player game that I can play with my husband, and then easily teach my friends. Tiny Epic Galaxies is one of my all-time favorites.

Gateway into the hobby:

Through a mutual connection, I was introduced to Travis and Action Phase Games, helping them kick off their first Kickstarter campaign: Heroes Wanted. I fell in love with the industry and have been playing everything that crosses my table since.

If I could game with anyone:

I really enjoy when I get to play with someone new. Games are for everyone, so when someone says they don’t think they’d like a game, I take it as a challenge to find the right game for them.

Favorite games:

Easily Dominant Species. I like most games with “dudes on a map” but the combination of theme, complexity, and interest that Dominant Species can create with a bunch of cones and cubes is what elevates it to the top of my list.

Gateway into the hobby:

I started playing Magic the Gathering in 1998 and focused mostly on that till I finally quit when I decided it was time to diversify my gaming and dove head first into the hobby starting my collection with a little game called Arkham Horror.

If I could game with anyone:

If your response to “I play board games” is, “do you mean like monopoly?” then I want to play with you. I really enjoy bringing new people into the hobby and sharing the pleasure that comes with sitting around a table with actual people and sharing an experience that isn’t hidden behind a screen.

Development & Production Assistant

Favorite games:

Cooperative games, and solo games tend to be my favorite. Growing up, I always enjoyed split-screen video games. When those died off, board games filled that void.

Gateway into the hobby:

It was definitely Arkham Horror. My friends and I pulled it off of the demo shelf after a Magic: the Gathering tournament, and I ended up buying a copy to bring home.

If I could game with anyone:

I’d love to have played Codenames with Robin Williams. Can you imagine some of the clues he would give?

Developer

Favorite games:

Imperial 2030, In the Year of the Dragon, and Poker.

Gateway into the hobby:

This is twofold. My grandfather taught me checkers at the age of 5, and won my very first game!  I was forever hooked on games of all types after that.  My gateway into modern board games was Settlers of Catan.

If I could game with anyone:

It would be the great military commanders from history, with my personal favorite being Hannibal Barca.

Favorite games:

I like cooperative and competitive games alike. I have loved every Tiny Epic game I’ve played. Getting a group of us together for some Coup, Dungeon Roll or Codenames is always a good time.

Gateway into the hobby:

Like most people, I’ve played board games as long as I can remember. Back in the day, Risk, Stratego and Hungry Hungry Hippos were my jam but the game that first got me in my adult life was Zombicide. I still remember one of the first games I played and seeing the horde of zombies chasing us down as we frantically fought to escape had my heart pounding like I was playing a video game.  I had never experienced that thrill from a board game and have been hooked ever since.

If I could game with anyone:

Chess with Einstien or Jenga with the Incredible Hulk
